Who are we?

Pineappleist Co. is a group of artists joined by an ethos, rather than by an aesthetic style, artistic medium, or exhibition history. Members of the collective believe in the interrelatedness of sociopolitical systems and their component parts, and use the pineapple - a collective fruit - as a symbol to represent this interconnectedness. 

What do we do?

The main goal of Pineappleist Co. is to help individual artmakers of all stripes (professional artists, emerging artists, skilled craftspeople, and hobbyists alike) to connect with one another. Pineappleist Co. is designed to be inclusive and non-competitive - every member is valued for the strengths they bring to the collective - and our focus remains firmly on the process of learning, growth, and exploration.

How do we achieve our goals?

Members of Pineappleist Co. do our best to live our values. That means taking concrete actions to help fellow artmakers thrive. Through resource-sharing, Pineappleist Co. members reduce their costs and energy outputs, and increase their funding opportunities, resources, and reach. Members also benefit from the social support that comes from working collaboratively, and have increased opportunities to engage in sociopolitical activism simply by supporting fellow community members. 

Why connect with us?

While artists are often extremely resourceful people who can survive tumultuous cultural and personal experiences, we believe that subsistence is not enough, and want to see artists thriving. Artmaking can be lonely, and appropriate help (the kind that actually helps) can be hard to find. 

We’re committed to driving the sociopolitical changes that are needed within the arts community at a grassroots level.  By actively engaging with existing (and emerging) community resources, and by developing relationships with values-aligned individuals, Pineappleist Co. will increase community connectedness amongst artists of all stripes.
